Bremer: Manchester derby win would be ideal start
Pauline Bremer says she can’t wait for the first FA Women’s Premier League derby against Manchester United.

The Germany international says playing in front of a large crowd at the Etihad Stadium is a fitting stage for the all-Manchester clash.

She also believes it will be another milestone for women’s football in this country.

“It’s going to be big,” said Bremer.

“I’m really excited for the game and I’m looking forward to it. Hopefully, there will be a lot of fans in the stadium.

“I’ve never actually played there – I’ve only watched the men’s games there – and it’s a really nice stadium. Hopefully, we can fill it.

“I know there is a big rivalry with United on the men’s side and I hope we can bring that a little bit into the women’s game to raise awareness and bring more people to the games.

“It’s definitely going to be a huge game and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Bremer says the squad are desperate to get going for the new season with the target of more silverware high on the agenda.

City will challenge on three fronts domestically as well as the Champions League and will look to hit the ground running with different three competition fixtures in the opening 16 days of the campaign.

“Winning trophies, that’s the goal,” she said. “To win the first game and get a really important start, I’m looking forward to it.

“I’m completely ready to go now. I’m not thinking about the injury I had anymore – it’s in the past. I’m looking forward to training every day, I want to keep moving and keep feeling good.

“I haven’t missed a session yet and I’m really looking forward to getting going again

“Hopefully, I will stay fit and play many games.”

City kick-off the 2019/20 Super League campaign with a mouth-watering Manchester Derby, hosting Manchester United on Saturday 7 September at 3pm at the Etihad Stadium in the first encounter between the sides since the league was formed. Tickets are available and kids go FREE – witness history!
