City are delighted to announce Ellie Roebuck has signed her first professional contract with the club.
The 18-year-old has put pen to paper in a deal which runs until the end of the 2018/19 season.
“It’s such a great feeling,” the Sheffield-born ‘keeper told ManCity.com. “I couldn’t have wished to sign with a better club.
“I’ve enjoyed my time here at City so far and I’m really glad it’s going to continue.
“It was a complete no brainer for me to sign my first professional contract here – it’s all I’ve wanted to do since the moment I joined the club.
“It’s a great achievement and hopefully I’ll carry on enjoying this football club.”
While it would be easy to take the foot off the gas, Roebuck is completely focused on continuing her growth and improvement.
“For me, I don’t think anything changes after signing my contract,” the ‘keeper added. “I will still work as hard as I have been doing previously, it’s just great to know in my mind that I’m going to be here for longer.
“The main focus for me is to keep working hard and keep putting the ground work in and hopefully get more game time on the pitch so I can keep progressing there.
“KB [Karen Bardsley] and Marie [Hourihan] have been so great and supportive - they’ve given me targets too, so it’s a great environment to be in.
“All of the ‘keepers and Chris, the goalkeeping coach, have upped my progression, so I hope that continues.”
With the Blues still alive in all four competitions in the 2017/18 season and sitting top of the Super League table, the 'keeper is delighted to be continuing her journey at City.
“The best thing about City is the environment that you’re in. But also the contribution from the fans, all the coaching staff, and the players – everyone is so welcoming and I love being part of it all,” the England Under-20 added.
“The team bond on and off the pitch has massively contributed to our success so far this season and I think everyone is playing for each other, so hopefully we can keep the winning run going.
“I think the highlight for me so far has to be making my Champions League debut – that was a really special moment for me and one that I didn’t expect to happen so soon!”
