And on this Wednesday morning, both incomings and non-starters are up for discussion.
We'll begin with claims that City will initiate talks over Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
Writes Daniel Murphy: “City have 'scheduled a meeting' with Sporting director Hugo Viana who 'will be receiving a ‘formal offer’' for Fernandes 'once he gets in the city.'
"It's reported that after initially showing 'they could pay €50m' City are 'ready to go to €70m, although the initial offer will be for the lower figure.'”
He writes: “Guardiola placed a new left-back on his list of priorities for the upcoming window, along with a holding midfielder and centre back.
“But winger Zinchenko has been a revelation after rejecting a move to Wolves last summer.
“It has been enough to convince Guardiola to hold off a move for Leicester’s Ben Chilwell, who has long-been tracked by City.”
We complete today's news round-up with Dutch legend Frank De Boer, who has named City as a suitable destination for Ajax defender, Matthijs de Ligt.
A centre-half himself in his playing days, De Boer named Guardiola’s side amongst several European clubs when discussing de Ligt’s future with talkSPORT.
He said: “For De Ligt, it’s up to him what he wants to do. He has to look for a team that plays attacking football and has time on the ball.
“For me [he can go to] Barcelona, Manchester City, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, these teams I would advise him to go there.”
That’s all from the papers today, but we’ll back with more of the same tomorrow morning.
