It’s been a summer of transfer speculation but Saturday’s Media Watch is light on gossip as we dissect the sports pages from the local and national press.

Unsurprisingly, potential incomings are still discussed as some outlets consider what City need, whilst there’s also talk of the reigning champions 2019/20 title credentials.

That’s where we’ll begin, after Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi revealed he believes Pep Guardiola’s side are in pole position to defend the Premier League.

Sky Sports have the story, with Iwobi saying: “Everyone thought that last season, but Liverpool give them a tough challenge as well.

“So, you never know what could happen. I’m sure every club’s going to invest and try and get their team right.

“Pre-season’s coming up really soon, so everyone’s trying to get ready for the season to start.

“It’s hard to say right now whether Man City are going to dominate, but they could be favourites, considering they won it again.”

Meanwhile, ESPN have compiled a ‘transfer to-do list’, outlining what they feel City must do in this summer’s market.

Defence, midfield and attack are all included in the report, which reads: ”Although they pulled off a domestic treble last season, City have key areas in which they need help this summer.

“It is not a summer for big investment or a major rebuild but smart, strategic housekeeping instead.”
