Bernardo Silva’s trophy aspirations and Pep Guardiola’s inspiring coaching are the topics of conversation picked out in Wednesday’s Media Watch.

The midfielder has revealed what he wants to achieve in the Blue shirt, while there’s comment on the Catalan’s work from elsewhere in the sporting fraternity.

We’ll start with our summer signing, who features in the October issue of FourFourTwo, where he has spoken of his desire to lift the top prize in European football.

“The Champions League is more difficult to win,” Bernardo told the monthly magazine.

“Of course, the Premier League isn’t easy to win, but the Champions League has all of the best teams in Europe, so it’s as good as it gets.

“Manchester City have never won it either, so I want to make history.

“The Premier League title is a big goal for the club this season, but the Champions League is huge. When you’re at a club like City, you have to fight to win every competition.”

Meanwhile, England Rugby Union boss, Eddie Jones, has revealed to Sky Sports how the opportunity to observe Guardiola in training influenced his methods when working with the oval ball.

“I came out of that session embarrassed about how I had been coaching,” said Jones at the Soccerex Global Convention.

“He was coaching some of the best players in the world and it was minus five. It was freezing.

“They had 21 players and they were in three teams of seven, working on getting into space.

“Pep was out there running the session and speaking in four or five different languages telling guys like (Arjen) Robben what to do.

“It was just really enlightening how hard they worked in that 20 minutes and how he was embedding his philosophy on that team and how the players had bought into it.

“It definitely changed the way that I coach. I work the players a lot harder now.”

That’s it for today, Blues, but we’ll be back with more paper talk tomorrow.
