One international strike partnership that is exciting South American journalists is Gabriel Jesus and Neymar.

Jesus scored twice against team-mate Claudio Bravo as Brazil beat Chile 3-0, but the link play and understanding between the Brazilian strikers was again impressive.

“Neymar and Gabriel are a joy to watch, their telepathic understanding and wonderful balance and composure in possession could make the difference next summer,” write The Mirror

“Jesus struck a double as Brazil defeated Chile to leave Alexis Sanchez and the Copa America holders out of Russia 2018.

“The Manchester City star, back at the home of the club that made him, Palmeiras, profited from a sublime move involving Philippe Coutinho and Neymar to discard a limited Chile side.”

With Ederson and Fernandinho featuring for Brazil and Danilo on the bench, the Blues should have four representatives in Tite’s squad who are already looking like one of the pre-tournament favourites.

Meanwhile, RTE take up Argentina’s report: “Argentina overcame a scare to book their place in the World Cup finals after beating Ecuador away for the first time since 2001.

“Jorge Sampaoli’s side had Lionel Messi to thank - as his hat-trick rescued a side which found themselves 1-0 down in the first minute.

“Argentina went into the clash needing a win to book a place at the finals in Russia - and Messi cancelled out Romario Ibarra’s goal with an 11th minute strike.

“Two more goals from Messi either side of half-time in Quito meant his side qualified for their 12th consecutive World Cup, finishing third in the group.”

With Bernardo Silva playing the full 90 minutes as Portugal secured their World Cup spot with a 2-0 win over Switzerland, there will be more interest in the tournament than ever before for City fans.

Kevin De Bruyne also saw some second-half minutes at Belgium ended a thrilling qualification campaign with an easy 4-0 win over Cyprus.

Finally, the Express suggest City are confident of landing Alexis Sanchez in the January transfer window,

The transfer saga of last summer ended with the Gunners star staying at the Emirates, but it looks as though the story will crank into life again in the coming weeks.

The Express write: “Arsenal players believe Sanchez will leave in January with Manchester City prepared to make another move for the 28-year-old.

“Sanchez came close to joining Man City after Arsenal agreed to sell him on the condition they find a replacement in time.

“But the deal fell through when Arsenal were unable to convince Thomas Lemar to join from Monaco and meant Sanchez was forced to stay at the Emirates, at least until January.

“The Chilean has been a frustrated figure for Arsenal at times this season with critics believing it to be due to his disappointment at not leaving.

“But the Telegraph are now reporting Sanchez may finally get his wish and reunite with City boss Pep Guardiola in the new year.

“The report says Guardiola has not given up on signing Sanchez and the Premier League leaders will make a cash offer in January.

“It is claimed the bid will be less than the £60million offer City made in August”
