City's 'best summer signing', a Premier League left back linked, why Kevin De Bruyne is planning a long stay at the Etihad plus more Sergio Aguero praise - it's your Friday media round up!

First to FourFourTwo, who have had a dart at selecting the Premier League’s best captures from the summer.

And it’s our very own Ederson who tops the list, a ranking I’m sure all City fans would appreciate!

The feature reads: “The rise of Manchester City’s Brazilian goalkeeper has been extraordinary. Ederson only broke into the Benfica first team in March 2016 but is already one of the best goalkeepers in Europe, and earned plaudits from all corners for his unbelievable distribution.

“On numerous occasions this season, the 24-year-old has received a backpass while under pressure from high-pressing forwards, only to split the ball through the lot of them and calmly recycle possession. He is fast becoming the fulcrum of City’s possession-dominant tactics, preventing aggressive opponents from disrupting the rhythm of Pep Guardiola’s team.

“City’s high line means Ederson’s traditional goalkeeping skills are rarely tested (he has made just 10 saves this season, the fewest in the division), but that brave header in the face of Sadio Mane’s flying boot suggests he is more than just a good technician.”

“He is fast becoming the fulcrum of City’s possession-dominant tactics.”

Another summer signing that has suffered terrible injury news is Benjamin Mendy, and his lengthy absence has led to speculation over another Premier League full back.

The Sun’s Daniel Cutts reports: “Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is eyeing a January swoop for Southampton full-back Ryan Bertrand.

“The England full-back has been watched by City scouts on a number of occasions over the past two seasons.”

Elsewhere, many outlets carry an interview with Kevin De Bruyne and his desire to stay at City for a long time to come.

He told Sky Sports: “Since Pep came to the club, he plays a style of football I like to play, so it makes it easy as a player.

“I like it here, it is the perfect environment and since I came here there has been a lot of trust in me. I like the project they are doing from the moment I came here.

“There was an older team [when I first arrived], they did a lot of transfers, a lot of young people, they are building for the future.

“I like the project and I am really happy here and I see myself being a long time here.”

Finally the Daily Mail run a feature on the Premier League’s best ever striker following Sergio Aguero’s ascent to the summit of City’s all-time scoring charts.

Ex-Arsenal man Martin Keown ranks his as the joint best of all time with Thierry Henry, saying: “He sits alongside Henry as the Premier League’s greatest foreign striker. He has been a pioneer for Manchester City.”

That’s all for today - we’ll be back same time same place tomorrow!
