Manchester City face Liverpool in a battle near the top of the Premier League on Sunday and Saturday’s headlines are filled with build-up to the match.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp spoke of his admiration for the style of play implemented by Pep Guardiola at City.

As reported by World Soccer Talk, the German said: “For me City is the most difficult team to play.

“I’ve heard about Pep Guardiola’s style and all that stuff but it is real football and it is difficult to defend against them and a lot of teams have failed already.

“If you are passive against City you have no chance. You have to be active and to be active you need to be brave.”

Klopp also revealed how his side will play in the 4:30pm kick-off at the Etihad Stadium during his pre-match press conference on Friday.

As Mark Critchley writes for the Independent: “With 10 games left to play, the Merseysiders find themselves in the midst of tussle for the top four. City sit one point ahead of them and can boast an extra game in hand.

Klopp knows how tight the margins are in the race for Champions League qualification and he admits he will not be satisfied if he and his players leave with a point.

“We have to deliver. We only go there to get something. Usually, you go to City and you can get a point. I think that’s not too bad.

“Should I already be satisfied with this? No. I’m not. I don’t think about it. I really think about what we have to do.”

Stepping away from Sunday’s match and looking ahead to the summer, speculation has already begun as to who City will look to sign.

The Mirror speculate that Roma defender Antonio Rudiger is someone that City are considering.

David McDonnell believes: “Pep Guardiola has identified Germany international Rudiger as one of his top summer defensive targets as he looks to rebuild City’s crumbling backline.

“City have had scouts at every one of Rudiger’s games in recent months and are looking to meet with representatives of the 24-year-old as early as next week.

“Chelsea are also in the hunt for Rudiger and almost signed him last summer, before a knee injury suffered by the defender scuppered the proposed deal.

“But City are determined to beat them to the signature of Rudiger, one of the most highly-rated young defenders in Europe and one they see as the ideal long-term central defensive parter for John Stones.”

That’s all for today’s media round-up. We’ll have more build-up to Manchester City v Liverpool throughout the weekend on mancity.com!
