It's time to go through this morning's back pages and roundup all the latest news and transfer speculation concerning Manchester City.

And if you believe what you read in the newspapers, City could be set to miss out on two of their supposed targets.

Let’s start with Alexis Sanchez. There are conflicting reports this morning concerning a possible deal to bring the Arsenal forward to the Etihad.

The Star believe Arsene Wenger will block a move to City, with Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain preferred destinations in the eyes of the Gunners boss.

His reluctance to sanction a move to a Premier League could see City frustrated.

“Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez will reportedly be allowed to join Paris St-Germain or Bayern Munich - but not Manchester City,” James Benson writes.

“The Chile international has enjoyed a stellar individual spell since joining the Gunners from Barcelona three years ago.

“And his 72 goals in 145 appearances during his time in north London have helped contribute to Arsene Wenger’s men securing two FA Cups.

“Sanchez is now in the final 12 months of his current Arsenal deal though and he’s refused to sign a new agreement worth £300,000 a week.

“Reports this weekend suggest Wenger is gearing up to let him leave the Emirates this summer - but only if a European giant comes calling.”

However, the Mirror say a deal for Sanchez is edging closer.

Their report concurs with the Star’s belief that Arsenal would prefer to offload him to foreign shores – but says the forward’s preference is to join City and remain in English football, something could well force Wenger’s hand.

“While Wenger has been adamant that Sanchez will not be allowed to join a Premier League rival, City are bolstered by the belief that the player is keen to link up again with Pep Guardiola,” writes Simon Mullock and Steve Stammers.

“Guardiola put Sanchez on his wishlist when he agreed to become City boss more than a year ago.

“And City will now make their interest official.”

Meanwhile, there are reports emerging suggesting a deal for Dani Alves, the Brazilian right-back who is a free agent having left Juventus at the end of last season, could have hit a snag.

The Mirror’s Football Spy says he will turn down the chance to join his former manager Pep Guardiola at City, preferring instead to join Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain.

“Dani Alves is reportedly set to turn his back on a deal to join Manchester City - and head to Paris Saint-Germain instead,” Football Spy writes.

“Free agent Alves, who left Juventus earlier this summer, was in line to link up with his former boss Pep Guardiola at City later this month.

“But according to Le10Sport, PSG have made a late bid to Alves which has turned his head.

“PSG’s new sporting director, Antero Henrique, reportedly held secret negotiations with Alves and his representatives on Saturday.

“The veteran full-back is now said to be ready to sign a deal at the Parc des Princes this week, which could lead to Serge Aurier be allowed to leave.”
