Sky: Aubemayang on verge of City switch?

TRANSFER TALK: Aubameyang making move to Manchester?

TRANSFER TALK: Aubameyang making move to Manchester?

Good morning, Blues! It’s a busy day for transfer gossip concerning City, so let’s crack straight on…

We start with a rumour that picked up some traction last night after Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio tweeted that a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was close.

Sky Sports News picked up the baton and disclosed that their sources agreed that the Gabonese hitman could be Etihad Stadium bound.

Sky report: “Aubameyang, the Bundesliga Player of the Year, had been linked with a summer move to Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants could be on the verge of losing out to City.

“The Gabon international's value sky-rocketed last season, with a haul of 25 goals in 29 Bundesliga games bettered only by Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski.

“He could become another high-profile capture from Dortmund for new City boss Pep Guardiola, who made his first signing - midfielder Ilkay Gundogan - from the same club last week.”

The Guardian’s Marcus Christenson has also reported on the subject – he believes that City are interested but will have to pay around £55m for the striker.

Christenson writes: “Manchester City are interested in signing the Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but would have to pay in the region of £55m for the Gabon international.

“The forward, who scored 36 goals for the Bundesliga club last season, would consider a move to join up with Pep Guardiola at City despite interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.”

One man who might not be heading to Manchester this summer now is John Stones.

Mirror scribe John Cross is of the opinion that Everton will refuse the defender a move for the second summer in a row.

“John Stones is heading for another transfer war after Everton insisted they will NOT let him leave Goodison Park for a second summer running,” Cross writes.

“Stones, 22, is a big-money target for Manchester City and the England defender is ready to push to be sold once more, having seen interest from Chelsea last year blocked despite him asking to go.”

Elsewhere, Manchester Evening News journalist James Robson says that City won’t bid for Toni Kroos or Jack Wilshere this summer.

That’s because Guardiola sees Fernando as an important player, according to Robson.

The story reads: “Pep Guardiola has assured Fernando he will be part of his Etihad revolution - but the new Manchester City manager has decided not to pursue a deal for Toni Kroos this summer.

“City have also ruled out a move for Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.

“Fernando was one of a host of names expected to be shown the door as Guardiola looks to overhaul his squad.

“But the Brazilian - who was one of City’s most consistent performers last season - has been told he remains part of the new manager’s plans.”

Finally, Goal.com have a story on Oleksandr Zinchenko proposed move to the Premier League.

The 19-year old Ukrainian midfielder plays for Ufa in Russia and City are reportedly working on a deal.
