The Sun believe City’s next target this summer is Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.

With Ilkay Gundogan’s signature safely secured, Wilshere, it is claimed by several tabloids and websites, is high on the wish list of incoming boss Pep Guardiola

The report – via the Daily Express - reads: “And according to The Sun, Guardiola is hoping to prise him away from north London.

The Spaniard is a big fan of Wilshere’s playing style and is well aware he needs to bring in more English players to meet Uefa’s rules

“In a 25-man squad 17 can be foreign, but at least half of the home contingent must have spent three years at and English club between the ages of 15 and 21.”

Meanwhile FourFourTwo suggest Yaya Toure may still be on Inter Milan’s radar, but the Serie A club are in no rush to land the Ivorian.

The story reads: “Yaya Toure, 33, is expected to leave Manchester City with a year remaining on his contract.

“Piero Ausilio insisted Inter are interested in Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, but the Serie A side are in no rush to push through a deal as they sort a change in ownership.

“Chinese investors Suning Commerce Group are set to purchase a majority 70 per cent stake from Inter president Erick Thohir.

“And as the two parties complete the new ownership structure, Inter director Ausilio said the club’s pursuit of 33-year-old Toure is not a priority at the moment.

‘Yaya Toure is a player that we really like,’ Ausilio told reporters. ‘But first we have to sort out [the] ownership change.

‘There are still things to be sorted out between Thohir, [Massimo] Moratti and the Chinese group. That is why we have not pursued Toure yet, but we are interested.’”

Finally, the Manchester Evening News speculate about the players the Blues have overlooked in favour of signing Gundogan.

Suggesting an array of top midfield talent, they write: “Just a look at the midfielders Pep Guardiola dismissed this summer speaks volumes of his faith in Ilkay Gundogan.

“Among an impressive list of potential targets was last season’s outstanding enforcer in the Premier League, one of the brightest prospects in Europe and a starlet he managed at both Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

“Yet N’Golo Kante, Renato Sanches and Thiago Alcantara were all ruled out in favour of a player who is currently recovering from knee surgery.

“Considering Gundogan also spent 14 months out with a back injury from 2013, his £20m transfer from Borussia Dortmund could represent something of a gamble.

“But having monitored the 25-year-old closely during his time managing Bayern, Guardiola is convinced he is the box-to-box midfielder Manchester City’s engine room has craved.”
