Vieira thanks Pep Guardiola for coaching support
New York City boss Patrick Vieira has thanked Pep Guardiola for the help the Catalan has given him as the French legend makes his way in the managerial world.

Vieira, Manchester City’s EDS coach until December 2015, spent a week at the City Football Academy in November and believes the experience has only improved him as a coach.

As reported by Goal, he said: “We have been in touch because the MLS season finished and I spent a week with him in Manchester.

“I watched his training sessions and spoke with him about his work. Of course, being in the same family gives us a link and for me that's extraordinary.

"It was very good; he took me into his office. He has watched some of the matches we've played, he spoke to me a little about the team, things to improve, things that could be changed.”

"We don't know what will happen, but I'm learning the trade. There are people at Manchester City who believe in me a great deal and have given me a desire to work hard and make sure I don't disappoint them.”

Back at City, Pep Guardiola has reportedly encouraged his players to find the form and confidence that saw them go ten matches unbeaten at the start of the season.

James Robson in the Manchester Evening News writes: “Guardiola acted after the unconvincing wins against Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace and Burnley in the hope it would inspire a response against leaders Chelsea.

“And despite defeat to Antonio Conte’s side, which leaves City four points adrift of one of their main title rivals, the Catalan was satisfied with the response.”

Ahead of Saturday’s match with Leicester City, former City shot-stopper Kasper Schmeichel could be in line for a return from injury for the Premier League champions.

ESPN report: “The Denmark international has been out for over a month with a fractured hand but could make his comeback imminently.

“He is likely to be fit for Tuesday's Premier League trip to Bournemouth and could even face former club Manchester City on Saturday if he convinces boss Claudio Ranieri he is able.”

That's all for this morning's media round-up! We'll have plenty of build-up to Leicester v Manchester City throughout the day on!
