In today's headlines, City are being linked with moves for two teenagers - a midfielder and a striker.

According to Paul Hetherington of the Daily Star: “City are eyeing Nigeria’s under-17 World Cup-winning captain Kelechi Nwakali, whose brother Chidi is already with the Sky Blues albeit currently out on loan to Girona in Spain.

“Belgium striker Dante Vanzeir, 17, who plays for Genk, is also a target for Manuel Pellegrini.

“City already have a strong Belgian contingent, headed by skipper Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne.”

In other news, former Manchester City midfielder, and now Liverpool player, James Milner believes City will bounce back strongly from the 4-1 defeat on Saturday against Juventus in the Champions League.

In an article on the Manchester Evening News website, the 29-year old – who played 90 minutes on his return to the Etihad after leaving in the summer – also stated he wants City to do well, apart from when they’re playing the Merseysiders.

Stuart Brennan writes: “James Milner said that his former Manchester City teammates were generous with their praise for an excellent Liverpool performance – and backed them to bounce back strongly.

“The England midfielder returned to the Etihad for the first time since moving to Anfield on a free transfer in the summer, and helped inflict the Blues’ heaviest defeat since they moved to that stadium.

“But he believes that City will show their resilience as they go to Turin seeking the win that will ensure they top Group D and potentially avoid one of the European giants in the last 16.”

Said Milner: “They’re a team of top class players and that will hurt them. I spoke to one or two of them and they were disappointed. They were complimentary about how we played but they know they can play a lot better than that.

“They’ve a lot of big games coming up as well. I’m sure they’ll bounce back.

“Hopefully we can keep riding the wave and take the confidence we’ve got from today and kick on, and hopefully they’ll bounce back as well - I’ve a lot of good friends there and want them to see do well when they’re not playing against us.”

And finally, attention now turns to Wednesday’s Champions League group stage match against Juventus and Eurosport are reporting that the Italian giants are facing an injury crisis ahead of the game.

An article reads: “Patrice Evra, Sami Khedira, Hernanes and Martin Caceres are all expected to miss Juventus’s Champions League meeting with Manchester City.

“The Champions League showdown in Turin is on Wednesday evening.

“The Bianconeri beat Milan 1-0 on Saturday night but paid a heavy price for that Serie A victory - picking up more injury problems.

“Roberto Pereyra and Kwadwo Asamoah are already out of action and Khedira missed that match due to a muscular problem.

“Juve released a statement confirming Khedira ‘will train separately next week,’ so won’t be fit to face Manchester City.

“Evra sprained his ankle against Milan and limped off after just 28 minutes.”
