Jovetic: We fear no one in Champions League

What the MEDIA says finished

What the MEDIA says finished

As the dust settles on Monday night's 3-1 victory over Liverpool, the headlines turn their focus to the future once more. So what media stories are flying around today?

Well, the Champions League draw takes place tomorrow and Stevan Jovetic has warned the rest of Europe City fear no one.

Quoted in an article on the Guardian's website, the striker asserts: "We will see who we get it – we are afraid of no one.

"Of course it would be better if we got some of the not-so-good teams in the group, but we will play whoever we have to play.

"We have a really good team and I am enjoying playing with such good players. But we have to go step by step.

"It’s too early to speak about titles or the Champions League but we are going to attack all of those. We are a good team, with good players, and we can do it."

The 24-year-old features in several of the morning's pages, including the Mirror who declare the Montenegrin is ready to repay the Club for having faith in him.

"It's most important when the staff, the coach and the club president are satisfied with you," he stated.

"When they believe in you, it's very important and my way of saying thank-you is to play well.

"I'm very happy because it was an important game against Liverpool and we played very well – all of the team.

"Of course I'm happy for my goals and hope I can continue like this."

I hope so too - and so does Pablo Zabaleta, who claims he is not surprised by the striker's recent form.

In the Manchester Evening News, the Argentine defender reveals: "I can see him playing really well even in training. He is doing great during the week.

"He is very hungry to play games this season and score goals.

"We know we have four strikers in the team. We have a very strong squad.

"I think this is great for the team because we are going to play a lot of games this season and I think the manager will rotate players during the games.

"I think we need all of them in a good moment. For the strikers it is always important to score goals because it will help them to have more confidence."

In other news, the same source believes Manuel Pellegrini could ring the changes ahead of the visit of Stoke, with City's new recruits in the frame for starts.

Writes Stuart Brennan: "Manuel Pellegrini is set to give Bacary Sagna his Manchester City debut against Stoke on Saturday - and Eliaquim Mangala could also figure.

"The Blues boss dropped a broad hint that he will make changes to the team that beat Liverpool, in order to ensure his whole squad has minutes under their belt ahead of a tough September schedule.

"New boys Sagna, Mangala and Frank Lampard have not figured for the Blues yet, but all are in the running for the visit of former manager Mark Hughes’ team."

Elsewhere, the Premier League have shared some facts and figures on Sergio Aguero, disclosing he is the league's "most efficient striker".

An article on their website reads: "The Argentina forward, who did not start the match at the Etihad Stadium, took just 23 seconds to beat Simon Mignolet after coming on as a second-half replacement for the injured Edin Dzeko, and in so doing improved his record of the best minutes-to-goal ratio of any player in the history of the Barclays Premier League.

"The 26-year-old has scored 54 goals in 89 Barclays Premier League appearances at a ratio of a goal every 113.13 minutes, which is just under nine minutes better than the record of a goal every 121.79 minutes set by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry."

And finally, a bit of light-hearted fun now. Here's a clip from 101greatgoals.com of Marcos Lopes performing an awkward dance for his Lille teammates during his initiation!

I don't think we'll be seeing him on Strictly Come Dancing any time soon...

That's all for today. Come back to mcfc.co.uk again tomorrow for another round-up of City-centric media stories. In the meantime, have you watched our first City Today episode of the season yet?
