With only weeks of the football season remaining, a number of City’s on-loan stars were in action for their respective clubs. Here’s how they fared…

The chase for promotion to England’s top tier continues to heat up and City’s Welsh striker Craig Bellamy was, as ever, in the thick of things on Saturday.

His side may have fallen out of the Championship’s automatic promotion places but Bellers was in inspired form for Cardiff during their 2-2 draw with table toppers QPR and put his side in the driving seat before half-time with his tenth goal of the season.

Felipe Caicedo returned to the first team for Spanish side Levante in their La Liga meeting with Atletico Madrid. Though the Ecuadorian scored from the spot, he was unable to prevent the 4-1 drubbing his side suffered and was replaced after 76 minutes.

At the top of the Spanish Primera Division, even without Emmanuel Adebayor, Real Madrid were able to thrash Valencia 6-3, yet still sit eight points off the summit

Though Roque Santa Cruz will be unable to face his parent club when City travel to Ewood Park tonight, Wayne Bridge and Nedum Onuoha have both been in Premier League action this weekend.

Bridge could do nothing to prevent West Ham’s 3-0 loss at the hands of Chelsea and his team remain rooted to the foot of the table as a result, yet Onouha’s Sunderland climbed into the top ten with a 4-2 win over Wigan.

David Gonzalez played no part in Leeds’ goalless draw with Reading as they dropped out of the top six, and the gap between Ben Mee’s Leicester and the play-off spots grew to six points after they were beaten 3-2 by Nottingham Forest.

Kieran Trippier played 90 minutes for Barnsley in their 1-0 loss against Watford, while Donal McDermott and Andrew Tutte met in League One as Bournemouth faced Yeovil Town. Tutte joined the action in the 74th minute – five minutes after McDermott had been replaced – and his Yeovil side came from two goals behind to take a share of the points.

Having won four of their five opening games, Omar Elabdellaoui’s Stromgodset will seek to continue their excellent start to the Norwegian campaign when they face Viking tonight
