Garcia and Foden start FA Cup tie with Fulham

TEAM NEWS: Pep has made eight changes for today's game with Fulham
Phil Foden and Eric Garcia have both been named in the starting lineup for this afternoon’s FA Cup fourth-round tie at home to Fulham.

The academy duo come into a much-changed side, with Pep Guardiola making eight alterations to the team that beat Sheffield United on Tuesday.

Claudio Bravo replaces Ederson in goal, continuing Guardiola’s policy of selecting the Chilean for domestic cup competitions.

And Joao Cancelo, Angelino, Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and David Silva also come back into the starting XI.

Only Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez and Nicolas Otamendi remain from the victory at Bramall Lane.

City tactics

It looks like 4-3-3 for City this afternoon, with Bravo protected by a back four of Cancelo, Garcia, Otamendi and Zinchenko.

Gundogan will sit just in front of the back four, with Silva and Foden pulling the strings ahead of the German.

Bernardo and Mahrez will play out wide in support of Jesus, who will operate centrally.

Gaining control of possession early on, as always, will be priority No. 1 for City, who will look to play on the front foot and take the game to Fulham in an aggressive manner.

The West Londoners may be underdogs – but they are a side who like to open up and play attacking football. If they stick to their principles, it should make for an entertaining game.
