And Sane’s City team-mate Ilkay Gundogan was also on target converting a 26th-minute penalty before being replaced on 53 minutes.

Elsewhere, Kevin De Bruyne got a full 90 minutes under his belt as Belgium beat Scotland 3-0.

The City playmaker was a constant threat to the Scots throughout the game, seeing several shots either saved or go close before he finally scored the goal his all-action performance deserved late on.

De Bruyne, who had a huge role in Romelu Lukaku’s second goal, finished with a fierce drive on 88 minutes to complete a man-of-the-match performance with the Belgian looking back to his peerless best.

The Red Devils remain top of Group I with a 100% record from four matches played.

Elsewhere, City teenager Matt Smith was a 54th-minute sub for Wales as Ryan Giggs’ side lost 1-0 to Hungary.

On Monday evening, Aro Muric kept goal for Kosovo who beat Bulgaria 3-2 while Oleksandr Zinchenko played the full 90 minutes as Ukraine narrowly beat Luxembourg 1-0.
