Pep Guardiola says the Belgian midfielder is recovering well after suffering a lateral collateral ligament (LCL) lesion in his right knee injury in March and will begin taking part in training sessions again soon.
However, Guardiola says the rest of his squad are in good shape as we prepare to welcome Brighton to the Etihad on Saturday.
“Yeah, Kevin is making the last steps [in his recovery],” Guardiola said. “He could start training in next few days, doing part of the sessions. Everything is going well.
“Mendy: same process - he is going well.
“The squad is good. They are fit.”
The Blues will be looking to make it 19 points from a possible 21 when we take on Chris Hughton’s side at the weekend.
Brighton currently sit 13th in the Premier League table and are winless in four matches.
But Guardiola has warned against complacency, citing their performances against Manchester United and Liverpool as reason not to take them lightly.
"We know what Brighton has done against United at home - Liverpool at Anfield they were so close [to getting a result],” he said.
“They have been together a long time, they know what they have to do. They are really well organised.
“It will be a really tough game, but we know that and we will try to do a good game.
“The best way to prepare for Hoffenheim and Liverpool is to play well against Brighton.”
We're blending future and present, fantasy and reality in this morning's round-up ahead of the home clash with Brighton on Saturday.
