City trio make FIFA World11 shortlist

Three City players are in contention for the FIFA FIFPro World11 2018.

Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and Kyle Walker have all been nominated by fellow professionals around the world and are among 55 players competing for a spot in the coveted World11.

With close to 25,000 footballers in 65 countries casting their votes for the final eleven, the Blues’ trio will hope to make the final cut – though the competition is intense.

There are five goalkeepers, 20 defenders, 15 midfielders and 15 forwards on the list.

Ten of last year’s World11 make the cut and each voter must select their personal 4-3-3 formation plus a goalkeeper.

FIFPro, the worldwide players’ union, and FIFA have announced the 55 names in contention for the FIFA FIFPro World11 2018. The FIFA FIFPro World11 is decided by the players, for the players and involves votes from almost 25,000 professional footballers from 65 different countries. During voting, they each select one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards.

The 55 players selected (home country/club) are:

The final FIFA FIFPro World11 2018 will be announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards™ ceremony at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Monday 24 September.

During the ceremony The Best FIFA Men’s Player and Coach, The Best FIFA Women’s Player and Coach, The Best FIFA Goalkeeper, the FIFA Puskás Award, the FIFA Fan Award and the FIFA Fair Play Award for 2018 will all also be presented.
