AGUERO: Gets the nod up front

Aymeric Laporte looks set to start at left-back this evening, with Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan and David Silva making up a midfield trio.

Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane will play either side of Sergio Aguero in attack.

So, City are likely to go 4-3-3 this evening.

Hoffenheim starting XI:

German knowledge.

City have three former Bundesliga stars in action this evening with Kompany, Gundogan and Sane all starting.

The injured Kevin De Bruyne would have completed a quartet of players who have played in Germany with, of course, Pep Guardiola spending three years as Bayern Munich boss as well.

Stats and facts

City and Hoffenheim have never met competitively before,

The Blues have won four and drawn one of the last five matches against German opposition.

City will look to end a run of four consecutive Champions League defeats this evening.

Pep Guardiola has never lost a game to Hoffenheim in six previous meetings, winning five and drawing the other.

Manchester City have conceded two or more goals in each of their past four Champions League games; they last conceded at least two goals in five consecutive matches back in March 2014.
