Things we love: Free kicks, tricks & Insta pranks

THINGS WE LOVE: Olkesandr Zinchenko's Instagram has kept us amused.

THINGS WE LOVE: Olkesandr Zinchenko's Instagram has kept us amused.

New contracts, awards, cup wins; there’s been plenty to love at Manchester City over the past seven days.

And there’s been some more light-hearted things which have caught our eye, too, but here is what stood out for us this week…

Zinchenko’s Instagram

The Ukrainian midfielder is working hard to rival Benjamin Mendy as a Things We Love favourite.

Giving us an insight into the day-to-day training ground humour at the CFA, first Zinchenko brought us Leroy Sane styling his hair, before doing his very best to distract Nicolas Otamendi in the gym.

We loved both his Instagram stories!

Silva tribute

David Silva has, quite rightly, taken plenty of plaudits this season and if it weren’t for his consistent quality, we’d soon be running out of superlatives for his performances.

Tom Victor at Planet Football’s piece caught our eye, as he examines what it is that makes the Spaniard so special and makes his case for his inclusion alongside some of the game’s all-time greats.

Here’s a snippet of what you can expect: “On the surface, most of us can see Silva is great at finding space, and at finding team-mates or scoring goals when in that space, but it’s often what he does when there’s no space around that allows him to take a mile when given an inch.”

King Kev

Kevin De Bruyne has already shown the F2 Freestylers how deadly he is on free kicks, but it seems they forgot.

So it was a good job the Belgian was there to remind them at NBA London this week…

Ederson’s footwork

We’ve marvelled at Ederson’s kicking and calmness with the ball at his feet all season, but this may be the most impressive thing yet, as he executes a volley from an improbable angle in training.

Love for the Club

Academy graduate Lukas Nmecha signed a new three-year contract this week, a month after making his first team debut against Leicester City.

A boyhood Blue, we had to include his reaction to penning a new deal.

He said: “I’ve loved the Club since I moved over here from Germany and have been here for many years, so I really feel part of it.”

Take a look at the full story, here.
