City break Club record with 12th consecutive win

WINNING TEAM: City players celebrate the shoot-out victory

Manchester City’s penalty shoot-out victory over Wolves sets a new Club record of 12-consecutive wins.

The 3-0 win over Burnley at the weekend equalled the 11-straight victories recorded under Manuel Pellegrini between the 2014/15 and 2015/16 campaigns - but that record has now been broken thanks to a dramatic shoot-out that saw City move into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Some may question whether progressing via a penalty shoot-out should be regarded as a victory, but every cup final settled from the 12-yard spot proves the adage that ‘a win’s a win.’

Our last trophy lift – the 2016 League Cup – was decided by penalties, whilst even one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s proudest records - his 100th win in Europe - also went into the record books by virtue of a shoot-out!

Pep Guardiola’s side have played 14 matches this season in all competitions, winning 13 and drawing one, scoring 42 goals along the way.

We sit five points clear at the top of the Premier League and top the Champions League group after three wins from three games.

City have also equalled the Club record of 20 matches unbeaten, which was set between November 24 2013 - January 29 2014.

Everyone at City would like to congratulate Pep, his staff and all the players for a fantastic achievement.

City’s record-breaking run:

Bournemouth 1-2

City 5-0 Liverpool

Feyenoord 0-4 City

Watford 0-6 City

West Brom 1-2 City

City 5-0 Palace

City 2-0 Shakhtar Donetsk

Chelsea 0-1 City

City 7-2 Stoke

City 2-1 Napoli

City 3-0 Burnley

City 0-0 Wolves (City win 4-1 on pens)
