INTERNATIONALS: Ten City players were in action on Tuesday evening

INTERNATIONALS: Ten City players were in action on Tuesday evening

Ten City players were in action on Tuesday night. Here's a roundup of what happened...

Sergio Aguero overtook Hernan Crespo to move up to third on Argentina’s list of all-time leading scorers as he bagged his 36th goal for La Albiceleste in their 4-2 defeat to Nigeria in Krasnodar.

Ever Banega’s pinpoint free-kick put the Argentines ahead after 27 minutes and Aguero’s close-range strike made it 2-0 nine minutes later.

But former City striker Kelechi Iheanacho pulled one back for Nigeria just before half-time - a goal that sparked the Super Eagles into life as they hit three more in the second half through Alex Iwobi (2) and Brian Idowu to seal a famous win.

Nicolas Otamendi played the full 90 minutes but Aguero was taken to hospital at half-time as a precaution after he suffered dizzy spells but was given the all-clear to return to Manchester as planned.

Meanwhile, David Silva was a second-half substitute in Spain’s entertaining 3-3 draw with Russia in St Petersburg.

Kyle Walker and John Stones both started England’s 0-0 draw with Brazil at Wembley.

Gabriel Jesus led the line for Tite’s side and Fernandinho replaced Renato Augusto in the second half, hitting the post with a fine strike from distance moment after coming on.

Ilkay Gundogan started for Germany as they drew 2-2 with France before being replaced by Mario Gotze after 65 minutes, while Kevin De Bruyne played an hour of Belgium’s 1-0 win over Japan in Brugges.

And Bernardo Silva came on in the second half of Portugal’s 1-1 draw with the USA in Leiria.
