David Silva moved up to joint-fourth on Spain’s all-time leading goalscorer list after he opened the scoring in La Roja’s 4-1 win over Israel on Friday.
The Manchester City midfielder, making his 110th appearance for his country, finished superbly through the legs of Israel goalkeeper Ofir Marciano after Jordi Alba’s brilliant pass.
He now has 29 goals for Spain, putting him level with Real Madrid legend Fernando Hierro and nine behind third-placed Fernando Torres.
Further goals from Vitolo, Diego Costa and Isco made the win a comfortable one for Spain, with Lior Refaelov getting one back for the visitors.
Spain stay top of Group G in their World Cup qualifying campaign, ahead of Italy on goal difference.
