Second-half goals from Nicolas Otamendi and David Silva saw City turn a half-time deficit into a 2-1 win – the Blues’ third success by that scoreline in a row and a fourth single goal victory in succession, too.
“I would prefer we had the game won before the last moments, but the Premier League is the Premier League," said the City boss.
“I heard about the ‘Fergie Time’; I wasn’t here in that period but of course you have seen what we’ve shown in past games: we don’t give up.
“I understand and I don’t judge if a team just want to defend, so it’s difficult to attack them.
“Even in that situation we have to learn how to attack that position. At Huddersfield we had more problems, but West Ham played the same.
“We started well in first 10 mins of the game, but we didn't create and weren't able to find right place and right position.
“We made some more quick attacks and excited our fans after the break and we scored the goal, which is important.
“Against Southampton I didn't think we could get the winner, but today I did. West Ham didn't’ want to play, they took time, so we had to be patient.
“It is going to be a long, hard road. Our rivals United, Chelsea and Liverpool are all making good results, but it’s good to win points.
“Today there were more chances for us and we conceded few, we had good rhythm and we were free behind the lines..
“I’m very pleased the way we played in second half. It showed me a lot. We can attack better and second half was better.”
The boss also says he is sure Sergio Aguero will return to his best before long, adding: “After the accident he has been trying to rediscover his best form, but it’s not easy for him - sooner or later he’s going to come back.”
And as for the final match of the Champions League group stage on Wednesday, the Blues’ boss promised he is going to Ukraine to win, despite securing Round of 16 qualification as Group F winners.
He said: “I told the the guys who don’t want to play in Shakhtar to let me know because we are going there to win.
“It’s a big opportunity to win even more points, even though we’ve already qualified. Kevin (De Bruyne) will have a few days off, but we are going to prepare as normal."
