Things We Love: Bac coming back?

WORK HARD, PLAY HARD: Bacary Sagna has been putting in the hard yards in the gym

WORK HARD, PLAY HARD: Bacary Sagna has been putting in the hard yards in the gym

The captivating and the eye-opening... What's caught our attention on the world wide web this week?

In our latest edition of Things We Love, Club Journalist Caroline Oatway rounds up the best of the Internet's offerings from the past seven days…

Coming Bac?

Injuries to right-backs Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta has left Pep Guardiola with a selection headache in the past few weeks.

The Frenchman sustained a hamstring injury whilst on international duty, and while young Pablo Maffeo starred in the midweek Manchester derby defeat, Sagna provided an update on his situation on his Instagram account.

The defender posted a story, featuring clips of him putting in the hard yards in the gym. Hopefully, it won’t be too long until we see him Bac in contention…

Set piece specialist

City and England Women skipper Steph Houghton is becoming renowned as a free-kick expert.

Able to boast a collection of stunning set-piece strikes for her Club, the centre-back was at it again on Tuesday, curling in the winner for the Lionesses in Spain.

The goal caused a bit of a stir on Twitter where is was unsurprisingly described as a worldie! Can’t really disagree…

200 words on Roger Palmer

Always enjoy Simon Curtis’ ‘200 wordsworth’ pieces, and the latest sees Mirror journalist Simon Mullock pen two tons of text on former Blue Roger Palmer.

The opening line reads: “Confession time: I once kissed Roger Palmer’s feet. Or, to be more precise, his right foot.”

Definitely worth a look…

Football or swimming?

We all love a good slide on the turf… though the distance travelled as a result proved a little further than anticipated with this one, as Fiorentina took on Crotone in torrential weather conditions.

Suppose that creates another meaning for ‘early bath’!

Lineker meets Lampard

Frank Lampard may have spent just one season with City, but he quickly became a fans’ favourite – and not just for his on-the-pitch antics.

Often dubbed ‘a really nice guy’ or similar, the midfielder is one of few players who are loved by fans of every team.

As part of BBC Two’s Premier League Show, BBC pundit Gary Lineker caught up with the Premier League legend, who discussed life in America and his plans for the future…

Game changer

It’s been a special week for City in the Community, who are celebrating 30 years of making a difference to the lives of people in Manchester.

The Club’s many programmes have been under the spotlight as part of the festivities, including Walking Football.

One of the participants George Houghton told his uplifting story of the way the initiative gave him renewed purpose. It was shared on Twitter by @PLCommunities

Dangerously good

No doubt you’ve seen this outrageous Las Palmas goal from Kevin-Prince Boateng, but there’s no reason why it can’t be watched again and again (and again and again…)
