Burnley v Man City: Best stats from Turf Moor win

CHALLENGE: Aguero challenges for the ball

CHALLENGE: Aguero challenges for the ball

Manchester City won at Burnley at the weekend to keep the pressure on at the top of the Premier League table - but did you notice the impressive statistics from Guardiola's men?

Away record

With six wins and one loss from their seven matches on the road so far, City have the best away record in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s side have picked up 18 points on their travels already - four more points than the next best, Arsenal and Liverpool.

The challenge now for City, with three home Premier League matches in December, is to turn good performances at the Etihad Stadium into victories.

Coming from behind

Whenever the Blues have conceded the first goal in this season’s Premier League, they have failed to win the match.

That was the case before Saturday’s victory when City fell behind to an unstoppable strike before Sergio Aguero’s brace turned it around.

The only other time City have been able to come back from an early setback was the memorable victory over Barcelona in the Champions League.

As Fernandinho remarked after the match, turning more deficits into wins may be the mark of champions…

Lethal Aguero

Sergio Aguero’s numbers in a Manchester City continue to astound all that study them.

The Argentinian striker now has 32 goals in his last 33 Premier League matches across 2015/16 and 2016/17 and sits top of the Premier League’s top scorers for the calendar year of 2016.

Aguero’s double at Turf Moor took him level with Joe Hayes as City’s fourth best scorer of all-time. He now sits just one behind Colin Bell in third but he needs 26 more to catch Eric Brook in top spot.

The Octopus

Fernando was essential to City’s game plan in Lancashire on Saturday and he played his role to perfection.

The Brazilian, nicknamed ‘The Octopus’ during his time at Porto due to his ability to retrieve the ball in the unlikeliest of situations, won all of his tackles and aerial duels while making three crucial interceptions.

Although he’s known for his defensive work, the 29-year-old started several attacks for City with 24 of his 52 successful passes coming in Burnley’s half.
