Silva, Zinchenko and Kelechi all victorious

David Silva claimed an assist during an impressive display for Spain.

La Roja thrashed Macedonia 4-0 in Group G to remain top with Italy and Israel also winning handsomely as the top three threaten to pull clear of the rest of the teams.

Silva was at his industrious, sublime best, winning his 106th cap and conducting Spain's play, but his City team-mate Nolito was an unused sub.

NO SHOW: Nolito

Aleksandar Kolarov’s Serbia drew 1-1 Wales but the City defender was suspended and took no part.

Oleksandr Zinchenko played 55 minutes of Ukraine’s 1-0 win over Finland in Odessa to move second in Group I.

In Africa,  Kelechi Iheanacho’s chances to score in Nigeria’s 3-1 win over Algerian were few and far between, but the City striker still gave a solid display, playing the full 90 minutes.

Chelsea’s Victor Moses (2) and John Obi Mikel scored the Super Eagles’ goals to put them in command of their World Cup Qualifying group.
