Fernandinho had another excellent season for City in 2015-16 – arguably his best since he arrived three years ago – so should he got your vote as Etihad Player of the Season?
Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero are also in the mix, but here are a few reasons why the affable Brazilian deserves to be considered as well.
In the goals
As well as his energetic, industrious and intelligent displays, Ferna had a happy knack of grabbing important goals that went into a tally of six, his best for a season at City.
The pile driver against Chelsea in August ensured victory over a big rival, and he had a liking for Merseyside clubs in the Capital One Cup. His effort in the semi-final second leg against Everton put City back on terms in the tie, and he put the Blues ahead in the final against Liverpool.
He started all 12 Champions League fixtures, the only outfield player to do so for City in the club’s best showing yet in Europe’s elite club competition.
Only Samir Nasri and Fernando bettered Fernandinho’s pass success rate of 87 percent in the Premier League, but neither played anywhere near as many times as the award nominee.
