Hart praise for unsung hero Sagna

Joe Hart praised his team-mates’ resilience after recovering to beat Watford late on and breathe new life into the Blues’ title challenge.

Seemingly facing another dismal away day, City snatched victory with two late goals – and Hart was quick to pay tribute to one of the Blues’ unsung heroes.

“I think great credit needs to go to Bacary Sagna tonight,” said Hart.

“He’s played a lot of games because of Pablo Zabaleta being injured so for him to be flying down the wing like a steam train so late in the game and then put in a cross like that for Sergio to score from is fantastic. He has done so much for the team this season.

“We were one down and not particularly going anywhere. It was a terrible goal to concede but we hung in there with a great goal from Yaya and Kun’s header was evidence of the type of player we know he is.

“We have it in it us to come back like that, but just as we did at Stoke, once you go behind to teams like this it’s very difficult to come back and I was just hoping and praying we’d find a way, and we did.”

Hart pointed to end of the Blues’ dismal run of results on the road as a platform to power ahead from in the coming months.

He said: “We’ve got to build on this now – this result can only be good for us because it ends a run of six Premier League games in a row without a win which isn’t title-winning form, but we’ve somehow managed to stay in the hunt.

“We’ve still got all the clubs who are around us to come to the Etihad and I think we’re in a good place.

“We’ve got a big cup game to come now this week and even though we’re not where we want to be, we’re close and this was a big result for us.”
