Bony: The goals will come

Wilfried Bony

Wilfried Bony

Wilfried Bony is feeling relaxed and ready, having set himself the challenge of ending his goalscoring drought at the earliest opportunity.

The Ivorian came close several times after coming on as a sub against Newcastle a fortnight ago, but he believes by enjoying his football and staying focused, the rewards will come.

Like Jesus Navas, he also agrees Bournemouth could prove a tough nut to crack in this afternoon's clash, despite their reputation for playing good, open football.

“It’s a cliché, I know, but the fact is there really are no easy games in the Premier League,” said Bony.

“They have good, experienced players and I’ve been up against Sylvain Distin a few times and it’s always been a tough, competitive afternoon when we’ve met in the past.

“We have to do just do our jobs and work hard. I know I’ll be doing my best and as I said earlier in the week, I want to score the goals we need and really get my time at City off and running.

I remember when I was at Swansea I had a run of seven or eight games when I didn’t score, but after that I went on a great run and two months later I signed for City

“In football, anything and everything is possible so I’m not worried – I know the goals will come and hopefully I can start a good run against Bournemouth.

“It’s more important to remain calm and relaxed otherwise you can snatch at chances - I can promise the City fans I’ll be doing my best on Saturday for them and for the team.

“You have to enjoy games and take your chances when they come along – every game in the Premier League is tough but we have a huge week ahead of us and we need to win this game.”
