Bony hoping for warm welcome on Swans return

Wilfried Bony says he is looking forward to playing against his old club Swansea on Sunday, but is unsure what sort of reception he will receive.

Bony established himself as one of the country’s most coveted strikers during his time at the Liberty Stadium, scoring 34 goals in just 70 games for the Swans.

This weekend will be his first return to South Wales with still plenty at stake for both clubs.

“I’m excited about returning to Swansea for the first time,” he said. “I don’t know what sort of reception I will get but my wish is that it is a good one, but we will see.

“They had a good win at Arsenal last Monday and that was a big help for us in our attempt to secure second position.

I spoke with a few of the lads before the game and wished them luck and then thanked them afterwards because it makes it easier than it was to finish second.

“It should be a good game because they still want to finish as high in the Premier League as they can and they also still have a chance of qualifying for the Europa League so there is a lot to play for.

“That said, we will go there to win because finishing second is the best we can do this season.”

Bony had a lively cameo role in the 6-0 win over QPR last Sunday as he played a major role in two of the goals and also struck the post – was that his best performance yet for City?

“I don’t know about that – it’s more important to play for the team and give 100% every time we play,” he said. “I always remain positive so if I’m not scoring goals I don’t stress about it because I know things will come good eventually.

“I enjoy playing alongside Aguero when I’ve had the opportunity because he is a very good player. He’s a great striker and I think we will make a good partnership as we get to know each other’s game better."
