It’s been 25 years since two English teams met in a straight-up shootout for the title.

The year was 1989 when Liverpool and Arsenal met on a famous final day which saw the Gunners crowned champions thanks to Michael Thomas’s last minute goal at Anfield.

While the home side and the venue may be the same on Sunday, midfielder Yaya Toure is of the opinion that comparisons with that encounter end there.

With seven games to go, City’s top Barclays Premier League goalscorer is sure that upcoming clashes against Sunderland, West Brom, Crystal Palace, Everton, Aston Villa and West Brom are equally decisive to chances of a second title in three years.

“Sunday won’t decide the title because there are too many games still to play,” Toure declared.

We still have two games in hand and for me, the most dangerous games are the ones against teams who are fighting to stay in the Premier League.

“We still have two games in hand and for me, the most dangerous games are the ones against teams who are fighting to stay in the Premier League.

“Those teams can create problems and I think both Liverpool and Chelsea – like us – both have a couple of these teams to play.

“We saw recently when Chelsea lost to Crystal Palace that the sides near the bottom are capable of anything - they can take a point from you or all three, especially on their own ground where all the people pack the stadium and get behind their team.

“It’s a normal game and we still have six games to go after we play Liverpool.”

“Ultimately, the best team on the day will win.

“It’s important we don’t lose this game so if we don’t win, we need to draw because at this stage, every point is so precious.”
