Rekik joins PSV on season-long loan

Holland Under-19 international Karim Rekik has joined PSV Eindhoven on a season-long loan.

The highly-rated central defender will look to add to the experience gained during loan spells with Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers last season.

Rekik, 18, played eight times for Pompey and a further five times for Blackburn Rovers while he’s also appeared on three occasions for the Blues after making his debut against Birmingham City in 2011.

Eredivisie side PSV finished second in the league last season and are managed by Dutch legend Phillip Cocu.

“I am very happy to be at PSV," said Rekik. "I've been very well received here in Eindhoven and I will give all my best to help PSV win the Eredivisie.

"Also I want to become a better player and develop myself. We have a great manager and a young group full of talent. I am really looking forward to the season starting.”

We will keep you updated on Karim’s form at the Philips Stadion through our popular Loan Watch series which returns to mcfc.co.uk in late August.
