Carlos has eyes on cup

Carlos Tevez says City will come out with all guns blazing when they host Leeds United in the FA Cup on Sunday.

The striker, who has returned from compassionate leave, believes the Blues are in with a very good chance of repeating the cup success of 2011 when Roberto Mancini’s men ended a 35 year spell without silverware.

“This is a match that we have to win,” the Argentine declared.

“With us being twelve points behind Manchester United in the league, obviously we want to go ahead and progress in this competition.

“It is very important for all the players because the FA Cup is something we still have a good chance of winning.”

It has been almost nine years since the Blues faced the Whites, who currently sit in 11th position in the npower Championship.

However, Tevez, who missed City’s 3-1 defeat at Southampton, says he and his teammates are fully aware of what the visitors are capable of and are taking nothing for granted.

“Of course it is going to be a tough match, both teams are going into it wanting to win and so we have to make sure we keep our concentration and give it our best from the very first minute,” he said.

“We know that all our matches are difficult, teams do want to beat us and although we are at home, we are going to have to be at our very best.”

Team celebration

The image of Tevez lifting the FA Cup aloft at Wembley two years ago is one that will remain with City fans forever.

The striker smiled when asked to talk about his memories of that day and admitted he would relish the opportunity to re-live it.

“It was a great moment for me. The club at that point had not won a trophy for many years and to be the captain on the day and to lift that trophy, I have to say it gave me great satisfaction,” he recalled.

“Of course, it would be nice to have that opportunity again, I think we have a big chance and so we will be giving our all throughout.”
