Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is in contention to play against Stoke City on Saturday.

The Argentine was involved in a road traffic accident before the international break and suffered a broken rib.

But he returned to full training on Thursday and although he isn’t 100 per cent fit, Pep Guardiola says he could be involved against Mark Hughes’ side.

“He did his first training session after what happened,” Guardiola said. “He did it quite well. Hopefully, as soon as possible he will be back

“Maybe [he is in contention to play against Stoke]. Today, in the last training session, we are going to see. He is not 100% but he recovered quite well.

“We will see. We are happy he is back in training.”

Meanwhile, Guardiola admitted Vincent Kompany still isn’t fit enough to make his return to the side.

The City captain suffered a calf injury playing for Belgium at the end of August and hasn’t played since City’s 2-1 win at Bournemouth.

His condition is improving but Guardiola says the game with Stoke has come to soon for him to be involved.

“He is much, much better but still injured,” Guardiola said.

“Hopefully, it is the last part. It depends on him when he will come back. He will notify us.”
