City’s four signings during the first transfer window of the summer have selected their squad numbers for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup.

This comes as we confirm our 27-man squad that will fly to the USA on Thursday ahead of next week’s Group G opener with Wydad AC.

Our four new signings will all travel as part of the squad, and have each selected a squad number for the tournament.*

French attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki has chosen the No.29 shirt, which hasn’t been worn since Richard Wright’s retirement in 2016.

Many City fans will also fondly remember Shaun Wright-Phillips excelling with that number during a swashbuckling first spell at the Club.

Dutch international Tijjani Reijnders has chosen the No.4 shirt for this summer’s tournament.

It’s a number which City fans hold dear as long-term club captain Vincent Kompany played in it for nine of his 11 seasons in Manchester.

Rayan Ait-Nouri, who signed for City on Monday, will wear No.21.

The Algerian full-back becomes the first man since Sergio Gomez left last year to take the shirt.

However, it is undoubtedly most closely associated to club legend David Silva – who wore it in each of his 10 seasons at the Etihad.

Goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli takes the No.13 top which has been donned by Zack Steffen, Willy Caballero and Aleksandar Kolarov in recent times.

*Please note that the squad numbers for the 2025/26 season will be finalised once the summer transfer window has closed.

They remain subject to change until it closes on Monday 1 September 2025 at 19:00 (UK). Printed shirts cannot be returned or exchanged.
