City’s EDS side got back to winning ways with an impressive 4-1 victory over Everton at the Academy Stadium.

Felix Nmecha put us ahead at the break after a dominant opening 45 minutes, finishing off Alpha Diounkou’s attack.

City then turned on the style in the second half to add three more to our tally. Jayden Braaf scored two fantastic goals and Adrian Bernabe also tapped in.

Everton pulled a goal back late on through Jarrad Branthwaite but it was a dominant victory.

What happened

City started brightly with Jayden Braaf forcing Harry Tyrer into an early save to deny his low effort from the left.

Brilliant work from Nmecha then worked an opening for Morgan Rogers, but his curling effort was tipped away by the keeper.

Soon after, Alpha Diounkou advanced down the right, beating his man several times, before cutting the ball back to Nmecha.

The midfielder composed himself on the edge of the area to guide the ball in off the post to put us ahead.

City’s defence restricted the Everton strikers to minor chances and we almost grabbed a second on the counter-attack.

Adrian Bernabe played a neat one-two with Rogers with the former seeing his effort saved well by Tyrer.

The second half started in similar fashion and it took City just ten minutes to double our advantage. Braaf used burst into the box and fired a venomous effort past the keeper.

Minutes later City made it three through Bernabe. Rogers pulled the ball back to the midfielder and he had the simple task of rolling it in.

Brilliant vision from Fiorini to find Braaf made it four. The substitute played the ball through to the attacker who finished for his second of the game.

Everton broke City's resilience late on through Branthwaite, who headed in from a corner but it was merely a consolation.

What it means

The result sees City’s EDS climb up to ninth in the PL2 table. The victory was the side's fifth of the season.

How we lined up

Gavin Bazunu started in goal shielded by a back four of Alpha Diounkou, Rowan McDonald, Nathanael Ogbeta and Josh Wilson-Esbrand. Captain Tommy Doyle, Ben Knight and Adrian Bernabe operated in midfield. Morgan Rogers and Jayden Braaf provided the width for striker Felix Nmecha.
