Muric hails Bravo and Ederson influence

Aro Muric believes Manchester City is the perfect place for a young player to develop as he acknowledged the influence of the Club’s first-team stars.

The young shot-stopper was the standout performer in his first EDS appearance of the season against Rotherham and was quick to praise the opportunities afforded to him this summer.

Muric was one of several youngsters who jetted out to the United States to take part in Pep Guardiola’s pre-season training camp and the Swiss youngster is feeling the benefits of such a challenge.

“Claudio Bravo and Ederson helped me in pre-season,” he revealed.

“They taught me. I learnt a lot and it was a great experience.

“It was quicker and a different challenge and that made things easier for me now I’m back with the EDS.”

And the imposing keeper – who is unequivocal in his desire to fulfil his potential – takes heart from Guardiola’s willingness to reward Brahim Diaz and Phil Foden’s hard work and ability with first-team opportunities.

“This is a good place to be," Muric explained.

"We’re given everything we need to feel confident and the chance to show what we can do and that’s great for a young player.

“I’m trying my best to improve and I worked on my footwork a lot with him [Guardiola] during pre-season.

“I want to play well and be in the first team. I want to be the best.”

The 18-year-old ‘keeper certainly proved his credentials as the EDS faced League One Rotherham in the Checkatrade Trophy.

A point blank save denied Jonson Clarke-Harris in the first half before he was at full-stretch to keep out the Millers after the break as City fought back to equalise and force a penalty shoot-out.

Muric was at his best again, twice denying the home side to give City the win and he was particularly pleased with how his side fared against physical opposition.

He added: “We were good.

“We didn’t give up, we fought until the end and got the goal.

“They were stronger physically but I think we did everything we needed to.”
