Manchester City Under-18s are top of the U18 Premier League following a 0-0 draw away at Middlesbrough.

The Academy outfit are now unbeaten in five games, but will be frustrated not to have taken all three points at Rockcliffe Park.

City started the day second in the table and proved to be the dominant force against the team sitting one place below them.

Carlos Vicens’ side controlled possession and restricted the hosts to a solitary effort on goal, but were unable to break the deadlock despite creating a host of chances.

How we lined up

Josh McNamara’s goal was protected by a back four of Kwaku Oduroh, Shea Charles, Callum Doyle and Juan Larios.

Romeo Lavia, Darko Gyabi and Kian Breckin formed the midfield trio, with Oscar Bobb on the right wing and Micah Hamilton on the left.

Tai Sodje led the line up front.

What it means

City leapfrog Everton to sit top of the U18 Premier League, with three wins and two draws from the opening five matches.

The result also sees Middlesbrough overtake the Toffees, who have a game in hand after not playing this weekend.

Up next

City travel across to the North East again next weekend to face Newcastle United on Saturday 24 October.

Kick-off is at 14:00 (UK).
