Academy contracts update

Academy trio Lewis Fiorini, Ben Knight and Cieran Slicker have all signed new contracts with Manchester City.

Fiorini, who will spend the 2021-22 season on loan at League One side Lincoln City, has agreed a four-year extension to his previous agreement, keeping him at the Club until the summer of 2026.

Fellow midfielder Knight has penned a three-year deal that will run until the end of June 2025, whilst goalkeeper Slicker has completed a one-year extension that takes him through to the summer of 2024.

Slicker and Knight were both part of the Elite Development Squad (EDS) that won the Premier League 2 for the first time in City’s history in 2020-21 and also helped the Under-18 side lift the 2020 FA Youth Cup last season.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper made 14 appearances for the EDS, whilst Knight scored seven goals and provided five assists in 22 games.

Boyhood City fan Fiorini has been at the Club for more than a decade and spent last season on loan at NAC Breda in the Dutch second tier.

It was a fruitful move for the 19-year-old, who scored six goals and provided five assists in 36 appearances as the Yellow Army reached the final of the promotion playoff, only to lose to NEC Nijmegen.

The 2020-21 season proved hugely successful for City’s Academy, with the Under-18s winning the national title to go alongside the EDS’ Premier League 2 triumph and 17 of the players who contributed to those achievements have now signed their first professional contracts.

Josh Adam, Kian Breckin, Carlos Borges, Shea Charles, Callum Doyle, Harvey Griffiths, Darko Gyabi, Micah Hamilton, Juan Larios, Romeo Lavia, Luke Mbete, Josh McNamara, Adedire Mebude, Kwaku Oduroh, Liam Smith, Tai Sodje and Mikki van Sas have all put pen to paper on new deals.

A further 12 players have signed scholarships with the Club.

Luca Barrington, Will Dickson, Tomas Galvez, Jadel Katongo, Rico Lewis, George Murray-Jones, Daniel Ogwuru, Nico O’Reilly, Isaac Smith, Mamadou Susoho, Kane Taylor and Matthew Whittingham will all be part of the Under-18 squad for the 2021-22 campaign.
