Shaun Wright-Phillips was the guest of honour as 128 members from 30 branches across the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland visited the Club’s training ground prior to our 4-0 win over Bournemouth.
This is the second year we have hosted the event, which recognises the support and commitment of Official Supporters Clubs and provides members with an opportunity to meet with different branches from across the country.
Hosted by Matchday Live presenter Natalie Pike, the event included a question-and-answer session with Wright-Phillips, before City Football Group’s Group Chief Operating Officer Roel De Vries and Manchester City Managing Director Danny Wilson officially welcomed members back for another season.
“It was fantastic to welcome back the Official Supporters Clubs to the new season,” said De Vries.
“It was very exciting to be able to share the changes to the stadium and campus with our most loyal fans. I really hope they enjoyed the day.”
Wilson added: “We were delighted to welcome the Official Supporters Club to the City Football Academy for this special event ahead of our first home match of the new season.
“It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces again and to be a part of this event for the second consecutive year. We hope that everyone had a fantastic day.”
The Premier League and Continental Cup trophies were also on display, giving fans the opportunity to capture a memorable selfie before they headed over to cheer on Pep Guardiola’s men at the Etihad Stadium.
Reflecting on the day, Kevin Parker, General Secretary of the Official Supporters Clubs, said: “What a brilliant way to start our home season.
“The opportunity to meet members from other parts of The UK and overseas in such a fantastic setting was one not to miss.
“The updates from Roel and Danny along with footballing opinions from Shaun Wright-Phillips completed a great start to what ended up being a brilliant day.”
