Providing a route to the FC Pro Open World Championship Play-Ins, January’s FC Pro Open Cup is the final one of its iteration this season that Man City Esports will be looking to thrive in.

Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt and Matias Bonanno will be competing in the Cup Playoffs after a positive showing in the Ladder. Ander ‘Neat’ Tobal unfortunately bowed out after placing outside of the top 256.

Here is everything you need to know about their placements in the Ladder and information on the Cup Playoffs.

LADDER

The Ladder stage was played across 5 January to 13 January with the Pro players fighting to earn points and avoid losing them. A minimum of 20 matches had to be played with their final rankings determined by their highest peak placement in Europe West.

Tekkz placed 22nd with a peak elo of 1210. He played 20 games, winning 17 and losing three in an impressive run of form.

Matias Bonanno finished 129th with a 1115 as his peak elo. The Argentinian won 13 and lost 9 of his 22 matches across the Ladder.

PLAYOFFS

Played across 18 and 19 January, day one of the Cup Playoffs is a Swiss format with players seeded based on their Ladder placement.

Each round will be played over one leg. The pros will be competing to win three games as quickly as possible.

However, if you lost three games, you’re eliminated. Once all rounds are played, Pro players with two or fewer losses will still move on to day two.

The pressure intensifies on day two with a single-elimination tournament the format.

Seeded based on their finishing placements again, the further you go the more circuit points the Pros will accrue.

With this being the final FC Pro Open Cup, all the circuit points from all three cups will be tallied and the top competitors from each region will qualify for the Pro World Championship.

For City, that means six spots are up for grabs in Europe West.
