City u18s v Newcastle: Preview

Wato Kuate

City entertain Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon looking to string together three league wins in a row for the first time this season.

It will also be a revenge mission for the boy Blues who could consider themselves hard done by to leave the north east with nothing in January, after a two-goal comeback was halted by a last-gasp winner from the Magpies.

It was a real sucker punch for Sadler’s men who had battled back from a two-goal deficit to level the game but they will be hoping for better this time around.

City will be buoyed by their youthful XI’s 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers last Saturday in which Joe Nuttall scored his fourth goal in two games and Portuguese flyer Jorge Intima shone on the wing.

Wato Kuate also notched in that last encounter and his physical presence has provided the young side with plenty of solidity in the centre of midfield.

Newcastle’s schedule has been severely hit by the weather in recent weeks and they’ve only managed one league game since that January meeting with City: a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the start of February.

Kick-off at Platt Lane is at 1pm on Saturday afternoon and it's free entry for supporters wishing to come down and support.

We’ll bring you team news and live goal updates on Twitter, as well as a full match report from the game shortly after full-time.
