CELEBRATE: City's U15s lift the Premier League International Tournament trophy

City's youngsters continue to impress on the big stage after the U15s won the Premier League International Tournament on Sunday.

A 2-0 final victory over Swansea City completed an excellent weekend's work for Mark Kennedy's Blues at Warwick University.

As well as team success, City captain Tommy Doyle was named as the tournament's best player.

Academy director Mark Allen said: "It was a fantastic squad effort. There were a lot of games across the weekend so to play to such a standard shows the level of the squad.

"We have come up against a number of top quality academies from this country but also to beat some of the best in Europe to the trophy is something to be proud of.

"Mark Kennedy and his coaching staff have done an excellent job but to win this tournament was a team effort.

"All departments from medical to analysis to support staff worked incredibly hard to make sure the team were in the best possible position to do well and it’s something excellent to build on."

The tournament included nine Category One British academies and sides from European clubs such as Dinamo Zagreb, Ajax and Hertha Berlin.

After being drawn in a group with Newcastle, Chelsea and Dutch giants Ajax, City began their tournament against Newcastle.

Emphatic victories over Newcastle and Chelsea guaranteed the Blues a semi-final place ahead of their loss to Ajax.

The Blues were back to their destructive best in the semi-final with a 4-1 victory over Arsenal before beating Swansea 2-0 to lift the trophy.

The hard work doesn't stop there for Mark Kennedy's side as they travel to Croatia on Wednesday to compete in the Istria Cup.
