Manchester City Girls Academy
Manchester City Women’s FC strives to nurture young girls and women through our player pathway, providing holistic development, life skills and opportunities to transition all the way through from the Under 10s to first-team football.
Each player’s journey through our Academy is individualised and holistic.
THE Girls academy has three phases:
• Next Gen, our U21 squad
Full-time programme including onsite education and PGA U21 League matches
• Youth Development, U14 & U16
3 x training sessions and 1 x match per week
• Foundation Phase Emerging Talent Centre, U10, U12 & U13s
2 x training sessions and 1 x match per week
- Players who are selected for the Girls Academy receive a comprehensive training programme both on and off the pitch.
- They receive bespoke coaching programmes, strength & conditioning coach, performance lifestyle & player wellbeing education, medical support, and nutrition advice.
- Our education team work closely with each players’ school to ensure that education remains a priority throughout a players’ football journey.
- The same team also deliver all education for our Next Gen players in-house with subjects offered as varied as Biology A-Level to BTEC Sport.
- All our Girls’ Academy teams train and play onsite at the state-of-the-art City Football Academy.
- This includes 16 pitches, classrooms, two fully equipped gyms, medical treatment rooms, and performance catering – where our girls eat after their training sessions.
- Players on the pathway are identified and selected through a player recruitment strategy, which includes a network of scouts, links with local clubs, and occasional trial events which are delivered on-site at City Football Academy.
