Introduction
This is the first cohort of a new coach education experience, built and delivered by Manchester City in partnership with Coachbetter.
Over two days at the City Football Academy, you will explore the coaching identity, youth development pathway, session design and performance analysis frameworks used by City’s academy staff every day - both in the classroom and out on the pitch.
You will learn alongside coaches from clubs around the world. With the experience built around a Champions League night at the Etihad, you will see the club from both sides.
Learn the method from the people who deliver it
Built by us and taught by us. This experience provides direct access to the City methodology and to the people who deliver it every day.
- Built by City. Led by Andy Smith, Head of Coaching Methodology. Other speakers and contributors to be confirmed.
- Theory and pitch. Classroom sessions and practical observation on the grass.
- Certificate of completion. Awarded by Manchester City at the close of day two.
A small room, on purpose
Places are capped. We want to keep the number small enough that the conversation in the room is as valuable as the sessions, and large enough to put you next to coaches working in very different contexts.
Expect a mix of youth and academy coaches, aspiring Directors of Coaching, and sitting DOCs and Technical Directors, from clubs across the UK, Europe and North America. Structured sessions, shared meals, and a coaching community that carries on after you have gone home.

A Champions League night in the middle of it
You will see the Etihad Stadium and the City Football Academy from the inside, watch a UEFA Youth League fixture in the afternoon, and finish day one under the lights for Manchester City v Napoli in the Champions League.

There is no formal qualifications required.
You will receive a certificate of completion awarded by Manchester City. It is not a coaching licence or a federation badge, and it does not replace one.
You'll gain insights into the Manchester City coaching methodology, player development, session design and coaching principles that you can apply in your own environment.
