Stay Safe Online
← Back to Safeguarding
Football uses the internet to communicate to coaches, referees, scouts, medics, agents, young leaders, players, parents and fans.
It’s important to understand how to make use of this technology appropriately and working with the CEOP Centres education programme Think U Know will help to do this.
Manchester City want you to stay safe online. There is plenty of help out there for both young people and parents and some websites and contacts are shown below.
Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre
Millions of children across the UK have access to the internet. It is now central to how they stay in touch with their friends and family.
However the internet is also a public place and while bringing many benefits and opportunities, also opens up new risks and challenges.
That’s why the Premier League and Manchester City FC have teamed up with the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre.
CEOP is part of the UK police, set up to tackle the sexual exploitation of children. The CEOP Centre aims to educate children, young people, their parents, carers and fans to understand the risks they may face online and what they can do to empower themselves to stay safe.
They also track, locate and hold child sexual offenders to account.
Think U Know
Emails, websites and social media play an ever increasing part in children’s lives. Most of the time the world wide web is fun, informative and safe there are also people out there who use it for inappropriate reasons.
Do you think you know who is on the other end of your web chat?
Click Clever Click Safe
The Click Clever Click Safe campaign, brought to you by the UK Council for Child Internet Safety helps children enjoy the internet safely.
They have developed the Click Clever Click Safe Code. It’s been designed to act as an everyday reminder of simple good behaviours, to help you and your children avoid common risks online.
