Black & Mixed-Heritage Representative
Jahmal Williams-Thomas
Manchester City has run through my family for three generations now, and having been born and raised in the shadows of Maine Road—there was only one choice in the matter: the blue side! Growing up in Moss Side, matchday was a real highlight of the week—whether that was being in the stadium or outside looking after the parked cars on the side street. You’d either hear the roars through Moss Side when a goal was scored or witness the euphoria in the stadium itself!
My day job is as a journalist, so I have no problem representing the people of the North West and can transfer those skills to this role very easily. I’ve investigated racism and other issues in the Black community—and growing up in Moss Side, I have a lot of lived experience of said issues.
I will ensure that Black and Mixed Heritage fans have a voice when it comes to Club matters in every aspect—whether that’s racist abuse or even just building a community of like-minded fans to integrate into the wider fanbase. I am passionate about representing my community and will always endeavour to make sure that every single person is enjoying what goes on the field—and indeed off the field—and to make sure that heritage is represented at every level. It’s about building a welcoming space, making sure people feel safe, respected and part of something special. That’s what supporting City has always meant to me.
