Vivianne Miedema says she and her team-mates were braced for a tough game against Aston Villa, but praised City’s character in a 4-2 Barclays Women’s Super League win.

Mary Fowler and Jess Park secured the three points for the Blues after Villa equalised just after the break following a Laia Alexandri own goal.

“We knew it was going to be a really tough game,” she said.
